~ Einar Nerman~ Swedish~ Children's Book Illustrator, Cartoonist, Designer, Painter. Born in Norrkoping, Sweden, he moved to Stockholm in 1905, to study Art, then moved to Paris and studied at the 'Academie Matisse' . He lived in London in the 1920's and contributed to 'Tatler Magazine', He also designed music sheets for composers and moved in glamorous circles. Friends of his were actors and actresses, including Greta Garbo, with whom he had a close friendship, painting her portrait numerous times. One of his portraits graced the 2005 postage stamp, in Sweden...honoring her 100th birthday. He also lived in New York City and drew many illustrations for children's books~
